MORNINGSIDE VILLA
This magnificent semi-detached villa in the Morningside conservation area had a drab, dark dining extension added to the property 20 years previously. The extension robbed natural light from the now internal kitchen with its low ceiling line. When the ceiling came down in the extension, it became clear that a raised roof profile and additional windows and skylight would add a feeling of space and, at the same time, bring more light into the room. Adding a new window in the gable wall of the kitchen would also provide much-needed natural light, making the rear of the property a nicer place to be.
