Our fees are tailored to each project because every home, site and brief is different. After an initial conversation, we can provide a clear fee proposal based on the scope of work, the level of design support required and the approvals or technical information needed.

Blue Door Architecture aims to provide a professional, transparent and practical service for homeowners planning extensions, renovations, building warrant drawings and residential design projects across Edinburgh and Central Scotland.

The fee for your project may depend on:

  • The size and complexity of the project

  • Whether the work is an extension, renovation, conversion or new-build home

  • The level of service required, from early design advice to full design support

  • Whether planning permission, listed building consent or a building warrant is needed

  • Whether the property is existing, historic, listed or in a conservation area

  • The amount of technical detail required

  • The project location and any site-specific constraints


Other fees to consider

Most construction projects will involve additional costs beyond architectural design fees. These may include statutory planning application fees, building warrant fees, structural engineer fees, specialist surveys, energy assessments or other consultant costs, depending on the nature of the project.

Our architectural design fees are separate from statutory fees and third-party consultant fees. We will explain what may be needed for your project as the scope becomes clearer.
